How are all you pregnant Mama’s coping in this heatwave we are having here in Bournemouth?
My second baby was born in June and I have memories of sitting with my feet in a bucket of ice water to try and keep cool.
Cold wet towels and flannels and a fan blasting at me to keep cool, because it’s just extra uncomfortable when you have a nearly full sized baby inside and you just feel like you have heat radiating out of you!
- Stay Hydrated. Seems obvious, and I know it’s a pain as it means you have to go for a wee alllll the time, (as if you weren’t already!) But it’s super important for you and baby.
- Cool, loose clothing in natural fabrics
- If you have to go out, carry a portable fan with you. If you can get one with a water spray attachment, even better!
- Sit down and try and chill!! Easier said than done, especially if you have other children you are looking after… but buckets of water and ice are fun for kids to play with… and ice lollies for all!
A reminder that your pregnancy (and this heat wave!) will go by faster than you think.
If you’d like to capture some special photos of this time, I’d love to meet you. We can have a relaxed session in my natural light studio in Southbourne, and get you some beautiful photos of this magic time before your new baby arrives.
